So the "down" arrow hasn't worked on my computer since September, but I've been too busy to be able to spare my computer for several days while being fixed, so I've just been working around it. Until this morning, when I discovered that the program that I now need to use for my research (....because the old version of it relies on a program that's been discontinued) requires that I scroll through options with the arrow keys, and I can't just scroll up and loop around. Which... is lovely.
My advisor's solution, while I'm trying to find a place that will do a fast repair: connect an extra keyboard to my laptop. Pretty sure I can hear my remote sensing prof (who has already criticized my laptop for being old, my external hard drive for being outdated and slow technology, and my mouse for randomly turning off) screaming in the distance.
#personal#grad school#apparently the GIS branch of geology is very into new and cutting-edge tech#and does not often run into Biology (and particularly Ecology) people#there are computers in the lab that still run on windows XP because the software that goes with the hardware needs it#one computer that has a DO NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET sign on it because if it updates someone is screwed#like my five-year-old computer is nothing there's 15-year-old computers still being used

#i cant fucking beieve it oh my goood!#so ive sent 3 emails and called them twice - my doctor's office#i need 3 documents from them for my health insurance so my top surgery will be covered#so 2 documents of these are just results of test they've done. easy roght. zhey hv these pdfs ready sitting somewhere in their software#i even added the dates the tests were taken so they could easily find them and just add them to the reply email and send it to me#the 3rd document is an evaluation so that might take some time to write. maybe 3 hrs max if my doctor rly puts his whole pussy in.#i don't hear anything after a week. i send a 2nd email. i hear nothing so after 2 days i call. the nurse on the line says it's being taken#care of. or smth along these lines. i hear nothing so the next monday i write a 3rd email. i hear nothing. today it's been 3 weeks#since i first contacted them. i call them again. the nurse tells me they sent everything in the mail last week. why tf are you sending it i#the mail instead of just replying to my fuxcking email???? anyweay then the nurse says oh it looks like we sent you only 2 instead of 3#documents. she tells me she'll send everything in an email today. i hang up i get dressded i rush downstairs to check the mailbox.#the letter is there i rip it open. it's only 2 documents. like. WHAT. i made an indented list numbered 1) 2) 3) in my email so it would be#easy to spot that i need THREE documents. how tf can you think oh yeah the patient wants 3 documents. but i'm putting 2 in the enverlope no#this is right and im not making a mistake now. anyway after 2 hrs i get an email w 3 documents in them. i finally feel relief bc my#health insurance wants that shit until next tuesday. mind you i reached out to them THREE weeks ago and i contacted them 5 times in total.#i open the files. only one (1) document is actually what i need and it's one of the lab tests. the 2nd lab test i need is not there. instea#there's a completely different lab test. from a different year (i literally wrote the fuking dates so they knew which tests i need!!!)#the evalutation i need which i thgoiught might take a max of 3 hrs to write is 2 sentences long. it doesn't address the actual issue that i#need evaluated. it took you THREE wekks to write 2 sentences that are WRONG??????#are yiou fuckihg stipouzds!! am i going insane like wtf is going on#i can use this to wipe my ass but not to hand it in for the health insurance!!!! *screams*#now i sent them another email (the 4th email) asking them to send me that test results that i need. i added the full name of the test#and the date it was taken. even checked my calendar to double check i got the right date. these ppl probably fucking hate me now#but. do your fuxking job!!! how can you not read how can you take 3 weeks to add 2 pdfs to an email and then one of them is the wrong one!!#idk what's going on but i suspect maybe they don't hv the results? maybe the tube was lost in the mail or it was too little blood to do the#test or the lab couldn't do the test for other reasons. but if this is the case. why do they not fucking tell me that?? l#like we are all adults i get that sometimes stuff doesn't work out or mistakes are made i promise i'm not mad (initially) i just want to#work together w you to find a solution#same w the evaluation. i suspect the dr doesn't hv the expertise or he can't fucking read idk but if he doesn't hv the expertise#instead of not replying for 3 weeks and then writing some 2 sentence bs that has nothing to do w what i need. you could've just told me you

Revolutionize Healthcare Efficiency with Cutting-Edge Hospital Software
In today’s fast-paced world, the healthcare sector constantly seeks ways to improve efficiency and patient care. One of the key drivers of this transformation is the adoption of advanced hospital software. By integrating Hospital Information Systems (HIS), blood management software, and laboratory information systems (LIS), healthcare providers can streamline their operations, reduce errors, and enhance patient outcomes. Let’s explore how these innovative solutions are revolutionizing healthcare.

HIS Software: The Backbone of Modern Hospitals
Streamlining Administrative Tasks
Hospital Information Systems (HIS) are crucial for managing the myriad of administrative tasks within a hospital. From patient registration to billing, HIS software automates processes, reducing the burden on administrative staff. This not only saves time but also minimizes errors that can occur with manual data entry.
Enhancing Patient Care
HIS software provides healthcare professionals with easy access to patient records, allowing for better-coordinated care. Doctors and nurses can quickly retrieve medical histories, treatment plans, and test results, leading to more informed decisions and improved patient outcomes. Additionally, HIS systems often include decision support tools that assist in diagnosing and selecting appropriate treatments.
Blood Software: Ensuring Safety and Efficiency
Managing Blood Bank Operations
Blood management software plays a vital role in the efficient running of blood banks. It helps track donations, manage inventory, and ensure that blood products are stored under optimal conditions. By automating these processes, blood software reduces the risk of human error and ensures that the right blood type is available when needed.
Enhancing Donor Management
This software also streamlines donor management by maintaining detailed records of donor histories, eligibility, and donation schedules. It can send reminders for upcoming donation appointments and alert staff to any potential issues, such as donor health concerns. This ensures a steady supply of safe blood products, which is critical for patient care.
Lab Software: Boosting Diagnostic Accuracy
Integrating Laboratory Workflows
Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) are essential for managing the complex workflows within clinical laboratories. Lab software automates the process of sample collection, testing, and result reporting. This not only speeds up the diagnostic process but also ensures the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Improving Data Management
Lab software facilitates the seamless integration of laboratory data with other hospital systems. This integration allows for better data sharing and analysis, leading to more comprehensive patient care. For example, lab results can be easily accessed by doctors through the HIS, enabling them to make timely and informed decisions about patient treatment.

The adoption of cutting-edge hospital software is transforming the healthcare landscape in India and beyond. HIS software streamlines administrative tasks and enhances patient care, blood software ensures the safe and efficient management of blood products, and lab software boosts diagnostic accuracy and data management. By embracing these technological advancements, healthcare providers can significantly improve efficiency, reduce errors, and ultimately, provide better patient care. Investing in these systems is not just a technological upgrade; it is a step towards a more efficient and effective healthcare system.

Absolutely mind-boggling how kaspersky, a software with near perfect rating when it comes to security, is being banned in the USA because it's from russia (it's being operated from the UK).
And the reason is that they COULD leak data to russia. Yknow, something every single other cyber security software COULD do as well. It was founded over 25 years ago and nothing ever happened, you think they gonna start now? Really? And, again, you don't have to be working for a russian company to be a russian spy, who's to tell some mcafee employee won't leak data instead?
I'm usually not one to defend a billion dollar company but the blatant lack of knowledge and "this man from russia made it = it's evil" reasoning is so infuriating. Maybe sit down for once and talk to the people who tested the security software. Jfc.
#there's legit no other arguments behind the ban besides 'russian man bad'#it's fcking gross#kaspersky#cyber security#security software#kaspersky lab

it took me more than an hour to get a clip of this because to really demonstrate it requires Good Circumstances or a Lot of Time because it just is inherently a very slow burn thing. but heres my latest ijm script. i wrote a really rudimentary 3D renderer and went to fucking town.
#imagej stuff#the worst thing is#this is a macro script for a piece of lab software i don't even use anymore#i don't know anyone who uses ImageJ actively#i have created a monster and i cannot even truly share it#i am truly alone with my nightmares
